Elaine M. Hoffman, 84, of Janesville passed away at her home on Saturday, December 22, 2012. Elaine was born in Rock County on January 29, 1928, the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Pahl) Bobzien. She was a 1945 graduate of Janesville High School. She married Carl Hoffman in 1947. Elaine was employed as a bookkeeper by the Janesville Gazette for 25 years. Prior to retiring, she was employed in the Lutheran Church district office in Janesville. Elaine was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church where she formerly sang in the choir, was a member of the women’s circle and served for many years as chair person of the funeral luncheon committee. Over the years she enjoyed making many quilts for the benefit of Camp Lutherdale. She was a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, the V.F. W. Women’s Auxiliary, the Janesville Gazette Quarter Century Club and was active with the Salvation Army.
Elaine is survived by a step-daughter, Pat (Wally) Wonoski of Twin Lakes, WI, three step-granddaughters, Amy (Mike), Karla (Cody) and Michelle, two sisters, Joan (Richard) Ludwig of Park Falls, WI and Lois Fenzl of Janesville, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hoffman in 1988. Her parents and three brothers, Ronald Bobzien, Ralph Bobzien and Dale Bobzien also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church, 302 N. Parker Drive with Pastor Roy Poltrock officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or the Hospice of the donor’s choice. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements
